Winning by playing the rules

It is too easy to lose valuable marks by ignoring the rules of the dissertation. The 'rules' contain the regulations of your university, department or course, and indicate what you must do and not do in your dissertation.

In our experience, few students, and not all faculty, realise the full extent of the regulations of their dissertation programmes.

The checklist highlights some of the key points that you need to know. Answer the questions either on the web version or print out and use the printable version.

If you cannot answer any of the questions, then make sure that you find out the answers! However, if your course or university doesn't have written regulations on some of the issues, then look at the What if... page.
